Erfurt – Health kiosks can make a significant contribution to improving the quality of life and strengthening health care in rural areas. This was pointed out by Thuringia’s Health Minister Heike Werner (Left Party) during her visit to a corresponding facility.
The minister therefore again called on the federal government to regulate the promotion of health kiosks by law. After the relevant passages were deleted from the draft of the Health Care Strengthening Act (GVSG), Thuringia had already called for the original passages to be reinstated in the GVSG at the Federal Council meeting in early July.
“Health kiosks show that in times of demographic change, good offers for a better quality of life are also possible outside of the cities,” praised the minister, who today visited a health kiosk in Kirchheilingen, Thuringia, together with representatives from health, politics and science.
She pointed out the successful combination of medical, social and mobility-related services and in this context also advocated a further strengthening of telemedical services. At the same time, Werner criticized the GVSG for having “lost sight of its actual goal, the strengthening of health care in the community.”
She warned of the consequences of a further thinning out of health, counseling and support services in rural and structurally disadvantaged regions: “With the inclusion in the federal law, the financing of such facilities would be secured and the services could be further expanded,” said the minister. © hil/sb/aerzteblatt.de
