Berlin – To coincide with the start of summer, the Medical Center for Quality in Medicine (ÄZQ) has had the information sheet “Climate Change and Health – When Heat Becomes a Risk” translated into six different languages.
Medical professionals can provide people who speak little or no German with reliable information in Arabic, English, French, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
The health information published in 2023 explains, for example, what happens in the body when it is hot and what health risks can be associated with high temperatures.
There are also practical tips on how best to survive the hot summer days and what to do in the event of a heat emergency. Doctors’ offices and clinics can print out the two-page brief information free of charge and display it in the waiting area or pass it on to patients or interested parties.
The ÄZQ has already produced information sheets on around 100 topics on behalf of the German Medical Association (BÄK) and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV). © hil/sb/aerzteblatt.de
