Kiel – Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister of Social Affairs Aminata Touré has presented the first points of a state care strategy.
“Nursing in Germany is facing huge challenges,” said the Green politician today in the Kiel state parliament. “We need a far-reaching nursing reform at the federal level.” With her state nursing strategy, she wants to achieve faster access for skilled workers, more digitalization and an improvement in the situation for the relatives providing care.
For example, a pilot project to speed up the labor market integration of refugees into the care sector has already started in the initial reception centers in Boostedt and Rendsburg. The professional skills of refugees are recorded and evaluated immediately after their arrival in the facilities. If this results in a career prospect for care, the potential workers are distributed accordingly to the districts and independent cities, said Touré.
In order to better support the caring relatives, counseling services in care centers are to be made permanent and strengthened. This could, for example, be a help for younger people who care for their relatives. According to the minister, the aim of the strategy is also to develop a central AI-supported early warning system. This should identify impending supply bottlenecks and gaps at an early stage.
In addition to these three points, the strategy should also, according to the minister, take into account the economic situation of care facilities, working conditions in care and the reduction of bureaucracy. © dpa/aerzteblatt.de
