Mainz The 128th German Doctors’ Day 2024 is decidedly against bonuses with goals that have financial consequences. Instead of bonuses, improved salaries should be agreed, according to a resolution passed by the medical parliament with a large majority. Additional bonuses for improved salaries should only have quality-related goals.
Joachim Grifka from the Bavarian State Medical Association (BLK) emphasized that freelance work represents a valuable asset. We need the independence of doctors in diagnostics, therapy, advice and decision-making. Profit-oriented bonuses are fatal in the context of medical treatment; patients must be able to trust that they are receiving the best care.
In addition, the Medical Association called on the legislature to make various practice sign information mandatory as part of the announced regulation of investor-operated MVZ (iMVZ) in order to promote transparency.
This information should include the specialty, the owner or owner of the institution and the name of the medical director. In addition, an MVZ website should provide concrete information about all employed doctors as well as the management and ownership structure. © aha/aerzteblatt.de
