Mainz – A new interactive dashboard called “Oncology Monitor Rhineland-Palatinate” enables the evaluation of data and evaluations from cancer registration in Rhineland-Palatinate. The online portal displays the current quality-assured data status from the Rhineland-Palatinate Cancer Registry at the Institute for Digital Health Data (IDG).
“Collecting oncological data comes with the responsibility to evaluate this data and use it for the benefit of patients – of course always taking into account all data protection requirements,” explained Philipp Kachel, Managing Director of IDG.
The data provided in the dashboard contains information from over 2.4 million reports on diagnoses, therapies, tumor conferences, and progress and vital status information from tumor patients who live in Rhineland-Palatinate or were treated there. The data can be selected and combined from over 50 different groups in up to 15 age groups. In addition to epidemiological indicators such as incidence, mortality or prevalence, clinical information on the stage of the disease, localization, histology and other information is also shown. Users can also compare the epidemiological data from Rhineland-Palatinate with the data from Germany as a whole.
“The data from the Oncology Monitor can not only be used in scientific questions, but can also be used, for example, for quality assurance or to support political decision-making processes,” emphasizes Nils Herm-Stapelberg, project manager and head of the Data Science department at IDG. © hil/aerzteblatt.de
