Berlin – Gematik has granted the first manufacturer (RISE) a provider license for the so-called TI gateway. This means that a modern and new connection option for the telematics infrastructure (TI) is now available, Gematik announced.
Until now, (dental) practices, hospitals and pharmacies have used a connector to connect to the TI. With a TI gateway, a connector is no longer required in the on-site facilities for the TI connection.
The facilities connect to a data center via secure VPN access. There, in a protected environment, there is a high-performance connector that has been tested and approved by Gematik and, with its performance, can replace a large number of connectors.
As Gematik emphasizes, configurations, maintenance work and the installation of new updates can be carried out centrally and are carried out by the provider approved by Gematik.
This means that major IT support for the installation or maintenance of a connector on site is no longer necessary, it was said. In addition, the operational responsibility for a TI gateway lies with the respective provider. © EB/aha/aerzteblatt.de
