Berlin – Some aspects of the Rheumatoid Arthritis Disease Management Program (DMP) deviate from the current guideline recommendations or could be supplemented. This is a preliminary conclusion of the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG).

On behalf of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), IQWiG has identified current evidence-based guidelines for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in order to compare their recommendations with the Disease Management Program Requirements Guideline (DMP-A-RL) and to identify any discrepancies.

For the current preliminary report, the Institute evaluated 239 recommendations from 13 current evidence-based guidelines.

According to the IQWiG, discrepant recommendations were identified in the areas of therapeutic measures, comorbidities, follow-up checks and cooperation between the care sectors, among others. The institute lists mental, psychological and psychosocial care as an additional care aspect that has not yet been addressed in the DMP-A-RL.

The preliminary evaluation results have now been published with the aim of incorporating important arguments or suggestions from the specialist public and all other interested parties. Comments on the preliminary report are possible until August 23, 2024.

If these questions remain unanswered, the respondents will be invited to an oral discussion, probably on October 14, 2024. The final report on the project will then be prepared. © aha/aerzteblatt.de
