Mainz 628 people in Rhineland-Palatinate were newly diagnosed with leukemia in 2022, 351 died from the disease that year.
The Institute for Digital Health Data Rhineland-Palatinate (IDG RLP) pointed this out. The figures are based on reports to the state’s cancer registry.
According to this, 16 of the new cases were acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), 237 were chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), 148 were acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and 54 were chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).
These four diseases accounted for 72 percent of the leukemias diagnosed in 2022. In the same year, these diseases were responsible for 73 percent of leukemia-related deaths in the state. © hil/aerzteblatt.de
