Berlin – The Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) has now officially published the future general additional contribution to statutory health insurance (GKV) in the Federal Gazette. As already calculated by the estimators between October 14th and 15th, the general additional contribution in 2025 will be 2.5 percent. This emerges from the publication in the Federal Gazette. In 2024 the additional contribution will be 1.7 percent.
The publication of the general additional contribution is usually scheduled for November 1st of each year. This did not happen a week ago because the calculation size for the contribution assessment limits was not yet available.
In the dispute between the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) and the responsible Federal Ministry of Labor (BMAS), this was only decided in the cabinet a few hours before the FDP left the federal government. In the shadow of the FDP’s departure from the government, the Federal Ministry of Health published the additional contribution yesterday.
The calculation now begins for the 95 statutory health insurance companies: In addition to the general additional contribution, many health insurance companies can and must increase a further, individual additional contribution. Once the health insurance companies’ budgets have been drawn up, the self-governing bodies of all health insurance companies must agree to the planned additional contribution.
Insured persons then have a special right of termination. However, experts expect that all health insurance companies will increase their contributions. © bee/aerzteblatt.de
