Berlin A networked and resource-oriented collaboration between all health professions is more necessary than ever to ensure continued patient-safe care. Ellen Lundershausen, Vice President of the German Medical Association (BK), made this clear today.
At the 36th Conference of Specialist Professions in the Health Sector, she stressed that the shortage of human resources will lead to further radical changes in patient care. This will also further change the forms of cooperation between all health professions.
The inefficient use of skilled workers as a resource in the health care system must be stopped, said the chairman of the Expert Council for Health and Care (SVR), Michael Hallek. A further increase in the number of skilled workers alone will not solve the problems of the skilled worker situation.
Therefore, the SVR report recommends a package of measures to counteract the structural bottlenecks and to use the resource of skilled workers more specifically in the interests of patient well-being, Hallek continued.
Tobias Maier from the Federal Institute for Vocational Training (BIBB) presented the results of a feasibility study commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG). This study concludes that the demand for and supply of health professions for around 55 professions can be reliably updated and forecast.
The projection concept we propose would be compatible with the projections within the framework of the skilled worker monitoring for the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) and, given its technical depth and analysis options, would be more powerful than all previous monitoring studies in Germany. Maier hopes that the project will be launched this year so that the first results can be presented in autumn 2025.
The Conference of Specialist Professions in the Health Sector, initiated by the Board of the German Medical Association in 1989, met for its 36th meeting. The aim of this permanent institution of more than 40 associations is to promote dialogue and interprofessional and cross-sectoral cooperation between the health professions and to advise on current health policy developments and their impact on the practice of the profession. © EB/aerzteblatt.de
