The Zi has awarded the 2020 Science Prize to two studies on regional inequalities in outpatient palliative care and mortality in older people after hip fractures.
First prize goes to Dr. Claudia Schultz (University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf) for their work “Analysis of mortality after hip fracture at individual, hospital and regional levels in Germany”. Co-authors are Hans-Helmut König, Kilian Rapp, Clemens Becker, Dietrich Rothenbacher and Gisela Büchele.
With the second prize is Catherine van Baal (Hannover Medical School) with co-authors Stephanie Stiel, Melissa Hemmerling, Jona Theodor Stahmeyer, Birgitt Wiese, Nils Schneider and Kambiz Afshar. Van Baal conducted research on “Outpatient palliative care in Lower Saxony – regional differences in the care of people at the end of life based on quality indicators”.
