Addlestone – Highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAIV) of the H5N subtype has now been detected for the first time in sub-Antarctic and Antarctic regions. These regions include the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) and South Georgia (Islas Georgia del Sur), where the H5N1 HPAI virus was detected in eight species of wild birds and seals.
